 is an USB Camera that is attached to the Nintendo Wii to interact with some Games. The idea of this device is quite simple, just connect the USB camera to the Wii and put it near to the Wii's infrared bar.
This technology was created in Ubisoft Barcelona, Spain. This device aims to give a higher level of interactivity to the gamer by scanning his movement and allow to interact with the game without console controllers.

Design

According to an interview with David Darnes, producer of the Your Shape game and team member of the camera design team in Barcelona, told that the Ubisoft Motion Tracking Camera with the "You Shape" game software works in two dimensions. He also explained that they (Ubisoft) saw the prototype of the Project Natal (Kinect) from the Israeli company two years before it get acquired by Microsoft. Since that moment Ubisoft started working on games for this technology and also work on the Motion Tracking Camera for the Wii. This motivated Ubisoft to invest one million euros to develop the "Your Shape" game because of the big potential they saw for gaming with out any kind of external controllers.

Bundles

For the moment there are only two games that bundles of this camera. The bundle released was Your Shape

 and the second one available was Racquet Sports, both games produced by Ubisoft. Racquet Sports has one version bundled with the camera and other one without it. Your Shape featuring Jenny McCarthy (USA) and Your Shape Fitness Focused on You (Europe) were only available in bundle with the camera, there were no stand alone game versions.

Technical Specification

David Darnes explained that even that it looks like a simple USB WebCam, the Ubisoft Motion Tracking Camera allow a wider view angle, like 85°, that allow the user to be very close to the TV set. The gamer can be less than two meter away from the camera and some important details like the lighting and body movement had been considered for its design.

The Ubisoft Motion Tracking USB camera has written "Hercules USB Camera WC04". 5V - 100mA. Made in China.
When connected to Windows 7 it get recognized as "USB Composite Device" and "USB Camera" and the driver got installed from Microsoft Windows Update. The Ubisoft Motion Tracking Camera works like a normal webcam on Microsoft Windows on applications like Skype and others.
