The weather department is desert with little presipitaciones, with temperatures of 35 °C in summer with obsolutas up to 40 °C in winter and dry 16 °C, with the presence of heledas with -8 °C. The climate is characterized by the influence of the dam on the lake's temperature and by occasional snowfall in the area Talacasto.

The flora, be characterized by xerófila. The fauna includes species such as hares, puma, vizcachas, martinetas, guanacos, wild birds and pejerreyes.
