History

Just prior to the City of Upland's growth spurt in the 1960s, Upland High School was established in 1955. By the 1980s this population growth had the side-effect of overcrowding, which in turn caused students to transfer to other high schools in the Chaffey Joint Union High School District

 was established in 1986. Upland High School has been a part of the district since it left the Chaffey Joint Union High School District in 1988.The school offers many classes, electives, and sports. Auto, Graphic Arts, Art, Photo, Cooking, Choir, Marching Band, Colorguard and Ceramics are just a fraction of the extra classes available. For students who are advanced, there are honor and Advanced Placement classes to take.There are many sports available to play such as Volleyball, Football, Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Tennis, Water Polo, Cheerleading, Wrestling, Track & Field, Soccer,and Swimming. The main quad area was recently renovated, along with the football field and pool to offer a better environment at Upland High School.

Upland Football

Upland high's varsity football team has been one of the most successful teams in the southern Section of CIF. Many players has received D-1 scholarships and a handful have played in the NFL. Coach Tim Salter, entering his 17th year as head coach, has led the Highlanders to 3 CIF southern section championships(1995,2000,2009) and a controversial loss in the 1999 championship game (in which many people close to the school still count as a championship). Known for their defense, the Scots have always caused havoc and they represent their defensive motto "Lights Out". In 2009, Edin Mahina brought the "Haka", a Polynesian war dance, to Upland and has now become a tradition after Big games. Upland historic rival Claremont has transferred out the The Baseline League leaving the Los Osos grizzlies, The Alta Loma Braves, The Rancho Cucamunga cougars, The Etiwanda Eagles, And the Glendora Tartans. Upland Football is dominate at Upland High School. Highlander Stadium is standing room only during home games. The people come to see the game. Tradition is what keeps Upland football a force to be messed with. "Scots Pride"

Upland Highland Regiment

Upland High School's marching band, known as the Upland Highland Regiment, is arguably one of the most successful marching band programs in California. With a consistent year-to-year size of over 220 students, the Regiment competes in the highest-leveled divisions of local competitive marching band circuits. Internal programs of the band itself consist of a fall semester marching program which competes in six to seven competitions around the Western United States, primarily in California. Upland High School Business Academy

Upland Business Academy students will gain proficiency and understanding of the business, finance, marketing, fashion, and e-commerce worlds. The core academic offerings and business courses will prepare students for college and career opportunities. The Academy supports high expectations for all students and gives students personalized instruction as well as career planning. Using the latest technology in our 21st Century classrooms, students will acquire the skills and ability necessary to prepare for both college and career while in high school.
Upland Business Academy offers career pathways, Accounting, Finance, Web Design, Multimedia, Fashion Marketing. The National Association of Colleges and Employers states that the Business field is a growing and stable career area. Top occupational areas in very high demand are: Accounting, Technology, Web Development, and Sales Management. Students in the Upland High School Business Academy that complete all academy requirements will be given special recognition at the UHS Senior Awards Night. Scholarships are available for students that complete the Business Academy. Get a head start on college credits by enrolling in one of the academy classes that can earn college credits. Business Academy students may enroll in courses that have articulation agreements with local colleges for college credits and advanced placement.
Academy students have the opportunity to join the nation-wide Future Business Leaders of America student organization. Through FBLA, students increase their leadership skills and participate in business related activities. FBLA allows students to meet new people, develop teamwork skills, network and be a part of social/community service activities. Real world training is an important component of the Business Academy. To help facilitate student contact and learning in the real world, students may enroll in the Business Academy Exploratory Work Experience. This component is essential for students interested in using life-long skills in the workplace. With support from the community learning will take place beyond the classroom in local businesses. An important component of the Business Academy is the connection between UHS and the partnership with community business leaders. Partnerships provide students with real-world context and provide valuable information to the business curriculum. As advisory members, business partners will help guide the development of academy programs and assist students in their career guidance.

Upland High School Future Technology

In mid-2012 Upland High School will publish the first mobile app for homework usage. Provided by School Loop, students are able to check grades, homework, assignments they completed in class, and also communicate with teachers. Now, it may be easier to access School Loop or UplandHigh.org on a mobile app. The Application will be develop for following Mobile Operation: Apple, Android, Blackberry. Upland High School App will be first uploaded to the Apple App Store, then will be develop for Android and Blackberry. Information about design and features will not be release until the official App has been uploaded to the App Store. DemoDanish will be creating the Application for Upland High School students and teachers. DemoDanish will begin the process, more information will be posted at school as the daily bulletin.
