Upstream open reading frame
Encyclopedia
An Upstream Open Reading Frame (uORF) is a kind of very short Open Reading Frame
(ORF) that is a common mechanism for the regulation of eukaryotic genes expression. Expression of the uORF typically interferes with the expression of a downstream primary ORF, which corresponds to the gene under regulation. Related systems in bacteria
are called peptide leaders, but they typically regulate only genes involved in the synthesis or transport of amino acids.
Open reading frame
In molecular genetics, an open reading frame is a DNA sequence that does not contain a stop codon in a given reading frame.Normally, inserts which interrupt the reading frame of a subsequent region after the start codon cause frameshift mutation of the sequence and dislocate the sequences for stop...

Bacteria
Bacteria are a large domain of prokaryotic microorganisms. Typically a few micrometres in length, bacteria have a wide range of shapes, ranging from spheres to rods and spirals...
