. It is found mainly in the Anamallay forests of Southern Indian, in moist woods at around 1,200 m (4,000 ft). This snake has been classified in the past as Rhinophis grandis, Silybura grandis, and Uropeltis grandis. Smith's earth snakes have a characteristic pointed head and flattened tail, like all shield tail snakes.
