Utah County Academy of Sciences
Encyclopedia
Utah County Academy of Sciences (UCAS, pronounced you-kass) is a small charter high school
in association with Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah
.
Students go to UCAS from many school districts in the surrounding area including Nebo School District
, Alpine School District
, and Provo School District
.
This school is located on the northern end of UVU campus and classes are scheduled to meet both college and high school graduation requirements.
UCAS was created along with 6 similar schools by former Governor of Utah Michael Leavitt.
The school does not have any formal sports, and only recently gained a driver's education program. It does, however, have a Student Government, Yearbook
Staff, Writing Club, Choir, school newspaper, and participates in the Science Olympiad and Multicultural Association programs in addition to all associations affiliated with UVU.
The reason most students go to UCAS is that it is possible (and likely) to get an associates degree at the same time they graduate from high school. Also UCAS pays for all UVU classes taken unless you fail one.
