The main village in the mandal is V.R.Puram (VaraRamachandrapuram). It is flanked by Vaddigudem in the southwest, Rajupeta in south, and Rajupeta colony in the east. The river Sabari meets the much bigger river Godavari at the western most part of this mandal. A smaller village on the western side of V.R.Puram is Dharamtalgudem (or D.T. Gudem for short). Most of the administrative offices of this mandal are located in Rekhapalli, which is east of V.R. Puram. The reason being that Rekhapalli is at a higher elevation in comparison to all other villages in the region and almost never submerges in case of flooding from the Godavari during the monsoon.
Till 2005, the easiest way to access V.R.Puram used to be reach Kunavaram and take the ferry across the river Sabari. But with the construction of the bridge across the Sabari, V.R.Puram, has got direct buses from Bhadrachalam, Hyderabad and Rajahmundry. When boarding the buses from Hyderabad bound for Hyderabad, the ending destination is usually mentioned as Rekhapalli. Also, with the construction of the bridge, VaraRamachandrapuram became the fastest growing village in the region, both economically and geographically.
