s have been issued since July 2007, with a RFID chip containing a picture and fingerprints.

Current Venezuelan passports feature a biometric symbol on the bottom of the cover, the passport cover also shows the name "República Bolivariana de Venezuela" on the top. The biometric passport contains 34 pages, and the holder's personal information is written in a digital format on a plastic card. The plastic card also features a machine readable zone on the bottom, and a picture of the holder on the left.

According to Venezuelan law, all passports versions issued before are valid until it's expiration date.

In the future, as Venezuelan full membership to the group is still pending, the Venezuelan government might change the passport format to the Mercosur
