Vestas Wind Systems A/S is a Danish manufacturer, seller, installer, and servicer of wind turbines. It is the largest in the world, but due to very rapid growth of its competitors, its market share decreased from 28% in 2007 to 12.5% in 2009...

specifically for the light wind regimes of continental Europe. Essentially it is a V80 with a larger rotor (giving 27% more swept area than the V80), although incorporating a number of the new innovations from the V90-3MW

especially in blade and tower technology.

The design follows what is now (as of 2008) considered a contemporary design in wind turbine technology, using a doubly fed induction generator in conjunction with pitch control system to allow for variable speed operation.

Nacelle

The V90-2MW nacelle is identical to the V80 series. The nacelle roof is fitted with ultra-sonic anemometers and possibly aviation warning lights.
