Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was born in 1820 in a village named Birshingha in Medinipur.His father's name was Thakur Das Bandopadhay and his mother's name was Bhagabati Devi. Ishwar Chandra Vidya Sagar helped John Elliot Drink Water Bethune to establish the Bethune Collegiate School. Vidyasagar wrote many books for children, including 'Barnaparichay', and 'Kathamala'.
