Vincent J. Basciano is an American mobster
who rose to become acting boss
of the Bonanno crime family
after the arrest of Joseph Massino. He is nicknamed "Vinny Gorgeous", due to owning a Bronx beauty salon called "Hello Gorgeous," and for his fastidious grooming, hairstyle and looks. Several reporters have noted that even while being held in prison during his murder trial, he still maintains perfect grooming.
In 2006 he was convicted in a racketeering trial for running illegal gambling and attempted murder. In 2007 he was also convicted of the murder of Frank Santoro, who tried to kidnap Basciano's son, and was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment. In May 2011 he was convicted of ordering a second murder, Ralph "Randy" Pizzolo, and received another life sentence, despite the prosecution seeking the death sentence.
Vincent Basciano is serving his sentence in the Administrative Maximum (ADX) facility in Florence, Colorado.
