, where he played trumpet in the band and orchestra; Saint Peter's College (BA) and Fairleigh Dickinson University (MAT). He currently resides in Florida with his wife and two daughters.

He also played trumpet in the first McDonald's All-American High School Band (1967). His first book, Presenting the Marching Band, was published by in 1974. Scuro then wrote three science and nature books in the Dodd, Mead and Company

Scuro also was a columnist for the Southwest Orlando Bulletin from 1992-2010 and has been a contributing writer to Satellite Orbit magazine and the Los Angeles Times.
