Vine City is an at-grade train station on the Blue
and part-time terminus station of Green
lines of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority
(MARTA) rail system. It is one of only 2 stations served by the Green, and Blue lines at all times. The area it serves, also called Vine City
, was mostly industrial in the early 20th century being just south of Atlanta's largest power plant, the Davis Street Plant. As of 2009, some of the areas west of Northside Drive are largely abandoned and primed for redevelopment.
Vine City provides overflow service to the Georgia Dome. As well as access to the Atlanta University Center, Morris Brown College, Moorehouse, Spellman, Herndon Stadium, and Clark Atlanta University. It is the final connecting Point and part-time terminus of the Green Line before it spurs to Bankhead Station. It also features 29 parking spaces in a small on site lot. Because of its dense location it is not directly served with bus service, however bus service is provided along the streets surrounding the station and at Hamilton E. Holmes station or Five Points
station.
