The Virginia Marine Police is a law enforcement
division with statewide jurisdiction in the commonwealth of Virginia, United States. The agency operates as a division of the Virginia Marine Resources Commission
established in 1875.
The primary responsibility is enforcement of state commercial and recreational fishery regulations as well as federal wildlife laws of the National Marine Fisheries Service
and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Virginia Marine Police are also authorized to perform other law enforcement duties including investigation of criminal activities and boating accidents. The agency provides resources for search and rescue
