In 2001, SR 618 was closed to civilian traffic, the fort Belvoir

. In 2004, the gate was permanently closed to all traffic, with two jersey barriers. The intersection with Beulah road SR 613, and Kingman road was blocked with jersey barriers.
In 2009, no trespassing signs were added to the gate.
No maintenance has been done on the road since 2001, but it remains on the VDOT maintenance map.
