The Control Center decided to abort the mission to not to endanger the crew moreover in fact for that moment the extensive research and technology program and biomedical researches were successfully finished. He was in orbit from June 6, 1976 to August 24, 1976.
Although he never flew again, Zholobov stayed in the space programme until 1981 when he resigned to become director of a geological science
research group.
