First expatriate family to settle in the Vuda was the Kumars, Mishras,Watinghams, McElrathsand Goundar family. They still currently reside in the area except the Mishras, along with other old families in the area, such as the Vakubuas, and the Babas. In the 70s an Italian man and his Japanese wife and family Marty and Taro settled hilltop of Vuda lookout and currently still reside there today. The 2 boys now established engineers have offices in Germany, US and Korea. It was a dream to them that one day Vuda lookout would be developed into the most prestigious and luxurious estate in Fiji. Setting up a new company in 2000, Sapphire Bay Fiji Limited was established to make this dream a reality. The Sapphire Bay Fiji Development will begin first quarter of 2009, from local sources.
