History

The station went on the air as WADZ on February 20th 1981. On February 15th 1988 the station changed its call sign to the current WDEC. While owned by Guest-Mattox Broadcasting, it shared call letters with WDEC-AM 1390, which was a talkradio format for many years before going off the air in 1994 following flooding caused by Tropical Storm Alberto. In late 1994, the station was sold to Americus Radio.
