WJAN-CA began broadcasting in the Spanish language
in 1995. That same year it began broadcasting its first independently-produced entertainment series produced for the Hispanic market in the United States, A Oscuras Pero Encendidos
. Hosted by producer and entertainer Paul Bouche
, the show became a success and in 2000, owner Omar Romay started investing in locally produced entertainment programs. By 2009 the station had 7 hours of original programming per day and a share of over 10 percent of the Spanish language television audience in Miami during prime time

. Other popular shows are "TN3", "Arrebatados" and "Explosivos". The station transmitted analog on channel 41, and now on digital TV channels 41.1 and 48.1 as WJAN-CD & WJAN-LD. For the past years, the primetime newscast has also gained a high percentage of viewers during the competitive 10pm to 11pm time. The 10pm newscast is anchored by Felix Guillermo and Alejandra Molina.
The stations has also become very popular among hispanics in South Florida due to their two daily running
newscasts. At 5pm with Jossie Galindo and Juan Manuel Cao and the primetime 10pm newscast with Alejandra Molina and Felix Guillermo.
