What is now WMML began operations in 1982, when daytimer WBZA relocated to 1230 from 1410, which at that time was a daytime only facility. At the time, WBZA was an adult contemporary station. WBZA flipped formats in 1986 to nostalgia, calling itself "Real Music". WMML began operations as a sports station in 1998, when WBZA returned to 1410.
