format and became WNJC ("New Jersey Country"), shifted to Spanish-language programming by 1994, then evolved into its current brokered format.
In 1994 the station was rescued from bankruptcy by radio engineer Michael Venditti and his partner John Forsythe. Venditti died in April 1998, and the station's current studios, located at 123 Egg Harbor Road in Washington Township, New Jersey
are named "Michael Venditti Memorial Studios" in his honor. The station is still owned by John Forsythe.
Today it follows the format "Renaissance Radio". In 2010, WNJC became the home of nationwide pro wrestling broadcast 1Wrestling Radio, featuring The Voice of Choice Bruce Wirt, Nemar "King Magnus" Wells, Albert "AC Smooth" Carraballo, and pro wrestling journalist Bill Apter.. Wrestling journalist Brady Hicks
is also known to be a frequent caller and/or in-studio guest.
According to station manager Ross Bergot, the hiring of Wells (aka "King Magnus"), was made to address a companywide initiative to better accommodate the mentally handicapped.. Wells, who suffers from down syndrome, is, as has been said on the VOC Nation, "fascinated by pretty colors and shiny things from 1980-1986, as well as 1987-1988."
