WNYX-LD is a low-power television station
in New York, New York, broadcasting locally on channel 35. Like its sister station WNXY-LD, this station broadcasts community Public-access television
-type programming. Much of its programming appeals to various ethnic audiences.
Originally, it began on channel 59 as W59AT and was licensed to Mineola, NY. For a while, it was a translator for WLIG (now WLNY-TV). In 1987 it moved to channel 44, moved to Hicksville, NY and changed its call letters to W44AI. In 1994 it changed its call letters to WNYX-LP, and in 1997 it moved to channel 35 in New York, NY.
Throughout the 1990s and 2000s WNYX airs community programing some of which are produced by local business and community access studios. Other programing that was produced in the early 90s was the pschyic tariot readings. In 2004 WNYX produced an hour long programing called The New Yorkers hosted by James Chladek. Another programing that was added was Stu Lee movie reviews. Plus many more programing including music videos.
In 2005 WNYX began to air AlmaVision form 9am to 9pm and programed community programing weeknights and weekends. Later that year in 2006 Nustrea TV air full time and in 2007 it went back to its current independent status. Metro Studios move from East 23rd Street to its new location West 42nd Street in Times Square in 2007. Therefore WNYX ceased operations temporarily from June to late November.
WNYX returned on the air two days before Thanksgiving with a new branding TV 35 New York. In the past couple of months some of the programming was replaced by The newyorkers which airs during the day. During the evenings old classic movies air along with psyic reading. On weekends only religious programming air in the mornings. WNYX was not effective during the digital transition in 2009 but it has soon drop the entire programing in favor of another format featuring jared. WNYX soon left the air in April 2009 as well as many other stations.
WNYX returned on the air in November 2010 with a new format, it airs mostly of religious and paid programming under a new owner Jacobs Broadcasting. Soon after the station rebranded simply as WNYX. TV 35 however is still available online. Religious programing was dropped in March 2011 and it is still airing a color test pattern.
