WT05 is the flagship television station of Block Communications
, which also owns the Toledo Blade and Buckeye CableSystem
. It is the CW's Northwest Ohio
affiliate.
Originally an exclusive to Buckeye CableSystem viewers, it had since been expanded to other cable systems in northwestern Ohio, such as Time Warner Cable
and Comcast
. WT05 does not have an over-air broadcast signal. It should not be confused with religious broadcaster WLMB
, which carries their digital signal over broadcast Channel 5 and maps their channel via PSIP to their analog Channel 40, nor WBTL-LP
(Channel 34), which formerly broadcast over Channel 5.

magazine as "TV5". The station originally aired on Buckeye Cablesystem's channel 5A, when the cable system broadcasted its cable channels over a dual-coax system. At the time of the station's sign-on, Toledovision 5 was on the air daily from 5PM to 12 Midnight, with Travel Channel
broadcasting on that channel at other times. The station joined the WB as a charter affiliate in 1995.
Over the years the station has carried Toledo area sports, including Toledo Mud Hens
baseball and University of Toledo
and Bowling Green State University
football and basketball, to the point that Buckeye Cablesystem launched a regional all-sports network, Buckeye Cable Sports Network
(BCSN) on January 7, 2004.
In September 2006, WT05 became a CW affiliate.
