WYDM is run by students from Monroe County Community College
, and is located on the grounds of Monroe High School
. The station actively works to promote local, non-profit organizations as a service to the community, and is Monroe's only locally located and programmed station. Many remote broadcasts are provided by the Broadcasting Club from Monroe County Community College for local non-profit groups and community events such as the Monroe County Fair and the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Monroe.
Dream 97-5's musical playlist is a blend of CHR and adult contemporary oldies from roughly 1980 to 1995. In 2009 the station made more moves toward an AC-leaning classic hits
music mix by adding more CHR and rock songs from the 1980-95 era to its playlist, while continuing to feature a gold-based soft AC rotation during overnight hours. The station also devotes part of its Sunday programming to country music
hits from that time period.
Being a low-powered, Class D radio station, WYDM is not protected from interference from CBC Radio One
