In 2008 the school moved from its initial location on Dumyat Road to a new building on Airthrey Road which was funded by a public private partnership. The old site will be used for a new housing development.
The school has roughly 950 pupils and operates a house system
. The three houses are Airthrey
, Logie
and Powis, which are both for social and administrative purposes. Each house has a depute headteacher and a principal pupil support teacher. The school's faculty system was recently revised - the current faculties are Citizenship and Enterprise; Communication; Culture and Design; Health, Sports and Community; ICT; Numeracy; Science; and Society and Citizenship. The school board and parent staff association (PSA) merged in 2006 to create a new group called WHAT (Wallace High Action Team), which takes on the former responsibilities of both bodies.
The school has a wide range of activities on offer, curricular and extracurricular. Sporting activities (which can be accessed through the physical education curriculum and/or as extra activities) include football, rugby, swimming, badminton, basketball, volleyball, dancing, golf, gymnastics, athletics and weight training. There also other activities such as a Burns poetry competition, debating, public speaking, a legal challenge competition, a drama group and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. There are concerts presented throughout the year; the Christmas concert comprises choirs, musical ensembles and a short play, which has recently been in the form of a pantomime. There is also a concert in March, which gives musical soloists a chance to perform. A popular event within the calendar of the school is the school show in summer.
