He was among a handful of broadcasters ever honored by Philadelphia City Council Resolution for outstanding service to the city's television viewers. He has appeared on the CNN, NBC and ABC television networks, at different times, to discuss stories he has covered.

Kennedy has been profiled in Philadelphia Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Philadelphia Daily News and the Philadelphia City Paper. In 2004, he left WPVI and joined the faculty at Temple University
