First appearance

Warren's first appearance occurs in "The Bazaar". He puts an end to Aunt Bee's bingo games at the Ladies' Bazaar.

Closure

After eleven appearances in the sixth season, Warren disappeared without any explanation to the viewers as to why. His character is not written out of the show, and there are occasional name checks for him, implying that he still held the job, but was simply not shown on camera. In the "Return to Mayberry" reunion movie, it is mentioned that he became Sheriff after Andy moved away, and held the post until his death.
