and moved on to national competition. In 2006, they recorded a Christmas CD called Carols of Christmas. In 2008, they were invited to sing in an NCACDA convention in Fargo, North Dakota

Surprisingly, West does offer other academic courses besides art and music
. This was the first time a school classified as Division II had won the national championship, and Waukesha West is still the only school outside of California

to have claimed first place at nationals.
The school placed third or better at the nationals competition every year between 2002 and 2009, and finished fourth in 2010. The team has been the highest-scoring Division II school each year in that time (except for 2006, when they were classified as Division I). The school has also been the national runner-up three times, finishing second to Moorpark in 2003, 2008, and 2009.
At the 2008 National Championship, Moorpark and Waukesha West achieved the two highest team scores ever recorded at any AcDec competition, with 53,119 and 53,096 points respectively. The 23-point margin of victory for Moorpark was worth approximately a single question.

Waukesha West High School's marching band, The Cadets of Waukesha West, have won the Wisconsin State Music Association (WSMA) marching band competition seven years (1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2006) and have finished second eight times (1996, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2010).Athletics
In the 2004 football season, Waukesha West won the state championship in Division II. They also won the state championship in Division I in 2010, they beat Verona, Arrowhead, Middleton, Kenosha Bradford, and SPASH to win the state title. The football team went 13-1 in 2010 with their only loss coming in week 4 to arrowhead 10-7.
