and is part of the Waunakee Community School District. Waunakee is Native American in origin, meaning, among other things, "the fair and pleasant valley."

Football

Waunakee has been WIAA State Football Champions in 1999, 2002, 2009, and 2010. The team was State Runner-up in 2001 and 2005. Waunakee was Badger Conference Champion in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Aquatic Center

Waunakee High School is equipped with an eight lane, twenty-five yard pool that home to the Waunakee Warriors Boys and Girls swim teams. The aquatic center is also open for the community and non-community members for open family swims, fitness swims, swimming lessons and more.

Student newspaper

Waunakee High school’s monthly newspaper is called the Purple Sage. They are written facts and opinions by Waunakee High School’s very own students. The Purple Sage is printed along with Waunakee’s community newspaper the Waunakee Tribune. The students of Waunakee High School receive the Purple Sage monthly, free of charge. But community or outside community members may order a yearly subscription of twenty dollars a year.

Kokopelli Kafe

Located in Waunakee High School’s school store there is a coffee shop called, Kokopelli Kafe, that sells a variety of beverages and treats. Kokopelli Kafe is run by Waunakee High School's special needs students. It teaches the students transitional work skills and provides interaction between students. Kokopelli Kafe has a philosophy, “Kokopelli Kafe is a school based business that enables students to learn
functional, transitional, vocational, and social skill in a “real life” environment.” Kokopelli Kafe became a community and city known business which attracted the news reporters of Channel 3000. “One cup at a time, the café is bridging gaps and giving students the life skills to succeed.”

School store

Waunakee High School’s school store is run by the marketing department and marketing students. The store sells accessories, women, men, student, and staff apparel. They accept cash and check payments, and now credit and debit cards are accepted as well.

Arts

Waunakee has a thriving Arts department, which includes programs in Band, Orchestra, Choir and Drama.

Campus

A brand-new commons area, fieldhouse, and wing of classrooms were added to the original building in 2005. There is a rock art mural displaying Wisconsin's natural and cultural history in the commons. A new pool was added a few years ago. A new story will be added onto the building to provide for its growing population.
