Wayne was an unincorporated community in southern Alberta
in Wheatland County
, located 5.5 kilometres (3.4 mi) south of Rosedale
on Highway 10X, 104 kilometres (64.6 mi) northeast of Calgary
. It is now administered by the town of Drumheller.
The community lies in the Rosebud River
valley, at an elevation of 695 metres (2,280.2 ft).
Wayne was the site of several coal mines that were closed in the 1950s. It is host to a few historic sites, including the Rosedeer Hotel. Highway 10X leads to Wayne through a 150 metres (492.1 ft) deep canyon in the badlands
