Weidling

A Weidling is a flat boat , usually 10 feet long and weighs about 320 kilograms. It is now mostly made of plastic, wood and old versions exist as well as rare metal versions. There is also the nave, which brings it to 15 meters in length and 1,700 kilograms in weight. The Weidling is traditionally grown in deep water with one or two standing and rowing in shallow shore area with one or two so-called spikes pushed upstream. At suitable Weidling banks can also be towed from the shore, a process known as towing . If the boat has a corresponding recess in the rear floor, it can also be equipped with an outboard motor.

This boat is on the Celts and is back with some 5000 years ago probably one of the oldest types of world shipbuilding. Even today he is particularly in Switzerland widely used on rivers and lakes. It is both in the private sector as a leisure and pleasure craft, as well, for ferrying boat modified drivers in the water ( pontoon kidney , engineer troops used) of the Swiss Army. The sport of water rafting is operated exclusively with Weidling.
