North of the train line the path runs both sides of the river. The path on the eastern side is longer by about 2.5km.

The path is to be extended to the mouth of the river on the west side, as part of the Werribee Regional Park. This will link the existing trail on the east side, via a footbridge adjacent to the Federation Trail
