The film premiered 12 September 2010 at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival
and had a limited UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on 19 October 2010. It will be on general UK release in February 2011 and at the UK premiere Ayub Khan-Din confirmed that a third film about the British Pakistani Salford, Greater Manchester family is being planned. The U.S. premiere was on 7 March 2011 at the Miami International Film Festival.
