. White Haven was created in 1824 by industrialist Josiah White. It is located along the Lehigh River which connects White Haven to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania
. The population was 1,182 at the 2000 census. White Haven is located 17 miles south of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
and 4 miles west of the I-476 and I-80
interchange. White Haven's elevation is 1300 feet above sea level.

living together, 12.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% were non-families. 26.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the borough the population was spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
