History

The school was founded in 1891 as Whitehill Senior Secondary School in a large red sandstone building in Dennistoun's Whitehill Street and became famous for the quality of the education provided. The old school was demolished after the new school was opened in 1977 at its present location in Dennistoun's Onslow Drive renamed Whitehill Secondary School. The original school bell, a teacher's desk and pupil's desk have been preserved and can be found in the entrance to the new school. As part of Glasgow City Council's Project 2002, the school was refurbished and modernised.
