The Whitley Bay International Jazz Festival was founded in 1990. Stylistic limits are from Ragtime
to Swing. The Festival now presents 25 or more bands each year, with approximately one-third coming from outside the UK. Emphasis is on showcasing young musicians. Previously held at the Menzies Silverlink Park Hotel, the event transferred to The Village Hotel from 2008.
