Founded in 1993, the Widener Law Review is the school's only general law review journal. Its focus is current legal issues, explored through two published volumes a year, including the Symposium Volume. The Symposium Volume is prefaced by the annual Spring Symposium - an all-day event held at Widener University School of Law that consists of lectures and panel discussions by symposia authors and other scholars.

Membership: Grade Ons

The Widener Law Review Offers membership by invitation to students in the top 5% of cumulative grade point average in their respective class sections. Offers are extended by invitation letter, after the Spring semester to First Year Regular Division Students based on their 1st semester grades. Letters are also extended to Extended Division students based on grades from their first 3 semesters. Students are required to accept or reject such offers by the due date in the invitation letter received. These offers are not conditioned upon subsequent completion of a paper as a prerequisite to admission.

Membership: Summer Writing Competition

To compete in the Summer Writing Competition you must have:
(1) a 2.7 GPA or greater by the end of the spring semester prior to the competition;
(2) completed your second semester of 1RD or 2ED in the spring semester prior to the competition;

Transfer students: 1ED candidates who are transferring to the Regular Division AND will complete at least 27 credit hours by the end of the summer (contingent on acceptance into the Regular Division program and 2.7 GPA.) are eligible to participate.

Ineligibility:
Those who fall into either of the following categories are INELIGIBLE to participate in the summer writing competition:
(1) Candidates who are not completing their second semester of 1RD or 2ED in the spring prior to the competition, OR
(2) Candidates whose GPA is below a 2.7 by the end of the spring semester prior to the competition.

Membership: Superior Authorship

The Superior Authorship competition is open to all students who have a) a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher; AND are completing their second semster of 2RD or 3ED in the spring semesters. Eligible candidates must also select a topic that is reviewed by the Internal Managing Editor of the Law Review Board. The paper must be an original topic (at least 30 full pages)and is due at the end of June. *Submitting a topic for approval does not obligate one to complete a paper.
