William Harrison (bishop)

William Thomas Harrison (22 September 1837 -11 December 1920) was an eminent Anglican priest
in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Born into an ecclesiastical family, Harrison was educated at Marlborough
and Trinity College, Cambridge
. He was ordained in 1861. After a curacy
in Great Yarmouth
he was Rector
of his father’s old parish
and then Vicar
of Christ Church, Luton
. Later he was Vicar
of St James’s, Bury St Edmunds and then Rural Dean
of Thingoe
before his elevation to the Episcopate as the third Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway
. He retired to Thorpe Morieux
and was again Vicar
until his retirement in 1912.
