He was one of the incorporators and for a number of years president of the Williamsburg Savings Bank.
He was also one of the founders of the Williamsburg City Bank (later the First National Bank) and of the Williamsburg Dispensary.

to the Thirty-seventh
Congress (March 4, 1861-March 3, 1863).
He declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1862.
He served as delegate to the Loyalist Convention at Philadelphia in 1866.
He died in Brooklyn, New York, April 20, 1872 and was interred in Greenwood Cemetery.
