Music video
The music video shows the band apparently getting in trouble in the principal's office. The principal gets called out of the room and the band begin to play their instruments, with lead singer Ben Jorgensen using the intercom system as a microphone. It then cuts to a classroom with "Hipster 101" written on the board, with a teacher inspecting 8 children in uniform. The rest of the video is interspersed with scenes of the band playing in this office, as well as the principal trying to get back in. Back in the classroom, the teacher is showing a slide show on the board which the children watch and take notes eagerly. Next the children are shown dressed as hipsters walking down the school's hall, one of them walking a small dog. The other children watch in surprise. They are then shown being taught by the teacher how to drink tea and bob their heads to their iPods and phones. The teacher begins to dance and back in the principal's office Ben throws papers around. The four female children are then shown walking into the bathroom, fixing their hair and clothes and walking out in unison. The four male children then exit the cubicles, preen themselves in the mirror and walk out also in unison. At this stage the teacher is dancing on the desk and the principal is attempting to beat the door down, unsuccessfully. Eventually the door is opened for him by another man, and he enters and pulls the microphone away from Ben. He then shoos the band out of the office, and Anthony Dilonno forcefully gives the principal his bass.
