with 600 students on roll. It is a neighbourhood 11-16 comprehensive school that admits 120 girls and boys to Year 7 each year. The school has been granted specialist Humanities College
status, so it is also commonly referred to as Willowfield Humanities College. The current acting headteacher is John Hemingway, who has temporarily been given the role after the departure of his predecessor Eve Wilson, who recently retired after 15 years with the school. The school has four areas, the North Wing, East Wing, South Wing and West Wing. The school's motto is 'Focusing on Learning and Celebrating Achievement' which reflects on the importance of rewarding students for good work. In 2009, the DCSF recognised the school as one of the top 200 most improved schools in the UK.

Building Schools for the Future
Willowfield was due to have a new school built by 2013 but the current government cut funding for secondary schools across the country and the construction never began, although land was purchased.In a recent court case with the education secretary, Waltham Forest and five other boroughs won a case to be re-granted money to fund the BSF programme. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-12265758 The site was originally planned to be built near Blackhorse Lane (approximately 0.5 miles away from the current site).
