Wim C. Turkenburg is Professor and head of department of Science, Technology and Society at the Utrecht University
, and he is scientific director of the Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development and Innovation of Utrecht University. Also he is a member of the board of the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands

From 1997 to 2004, he was a member of the Council on Housing, Physical Planning, and Environment (VROM-raad) of the Netherlands. Also he was scientific director of the Utrecht Centre for Energy Research UCE), and a member of the General Energy Council (AER) of the Netherlands.
He is author or co-author of many articles and publications on renewable energy
