The third competition took place in 2011.
The 1st round is done by tape audition, and 8 candidates out of over 500 are through to the 2nd round, who perform 30 minutes of a recital. Three go through to the final round, where they compete by playing 40 minutes of a recital at the Waterloo Chamber of the Windsor Castle
, normally closed to the general public.
The competition prizes include a performance with the Philharmonia Orchestra
, a bow of 5,000 pounds, recitals in Ischia, in Italy, and in many other places in London and other cities, and prize money of 5,000 pounds.
The third Competition's overall winner was Yuki Ito
from Japan, who donated some of his prize money to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund, while the second prize went to Chinese violinist Chen Jiafeng.
