The Wizpac txtr is an electronic document reader (e-reader
), presented at the 2009 CeBIT
IT fair. It is built by the German company Wizpac Ltd. from Berlin.
The device, which was presented as a prototype at CeBIT, is intended as a competitor product to Sony's Reader
and Amazon's Kindle
. In contrast to those, it utilizes a simple interface, consisting only of a capacitive touch

The 6 inch screen uses electronic ink, albeit with faster refresh time than its competitors. Wizpac Txtr runs a modified version of Linux. It will be fully documented with a developer API and SDK and open for third-party applications. It will at least support the PDF, plain text

The main external connection is a micro USB port. Bluetooth

are planned to connect to the txtr.com portal where texts can be shared and ebooks will be available for purchase, as is a wireless module to connect txtr devices among each other. Files are stored on a MicroSD card.
The official launch of the txtr will coincide with the 2009 Frankfurt Book Fair
held in mid-October.
