Original Building

The school opened in 1911 and originally only went up to year 2 it had several small classrooms and a school hall and it remained unchanged until the 1960s when it was expanded with a new reception block.

1995 Expansion

The Primary School was extended in 1995 as part of the County Councils Age of Transfer re-organisation scheme for the schools in the area this included 3 new classrooms and a nursery room. the expansion opened for the new 1995 school year, the students at the time nicknamed the new building became the new bit and the Edwardian part became known as the old bit.

1998 Fire

on 13 August 1998 at around 11:00 BST, during maintenance work on the roof of the school hall the 1911 building caught fire, nobody was in the school at the time because of the time of year but 200 people had to be evacuated from nearby homes for fear of explosion. The fire destroyed 40% of the school, the new part and the 1960s block were undamaged but the 1960s block was later demolished.

Replacement

A temporary building was constructed on the playground while rebuilding took place. a new building opened for the new 2000-01 school year it was larger than the old building to fit new regulations and uses the same brick work as the 1995 building.
