From September 2010, management of academic years 5 and 6 of the school was transferred to the head teacher of Putnoe Lower School, with pupils continuing to study at the Woodside site. In September 2011, pupils in academic years 7 and 8 transferred to Mark Rutherford Upper School
, with all new year 7 pupils transferring to Mark Rutherford in future years. These changes are not affected by Bedford Borough Council's (possibly abandoned) schools reorganisation proposals or the Building Schools for the Future
programme. These changes will effectively mark the end of Woodside Middle School as an independent institution.
