. The station was built to facilitate access to the Seoul World Cup Stadium
for 2002. The station has a very specific design with a main entrance reminiscent of a Greek amphitheater, between Exits 2 and 3.

. This is the largest soccer-only stadium in Asia, accommodating 64,677 spectators at once. During the World Cup, the opening ceremony and the opening match took place here.
May 2003 saw a huge change in the Seoul World Cup Stadium. After the 2002 World Cup Games ended, the city government remodeled the stadium by building a variety of facilities for citizens. The stadium was reborn as "Worldcupmall," featuring a multi-screen cinema complex, a wedding hall, a sports center and a discount store, as well as shopping malls. It is a best place providing one-stop services for shopping, sports, entertainment and cultural activities.
Moreover, the outdoor squares next to the stadium have been open to the public for various events and sporting activities like inline skating and hockey playing.
