. This town is known for the cluster of plywood units. The older town is called Jagadhri
. The railway station servicing the town is called Jagadhari Railway Station.
Yamuna Nagar has a unique blend of basic modern amenities like shopping malls, ATMs network, Health Care, Education but still it has a very sweet charm of old city, relaxed life and smiling people, who love good food and small talks. It is a green, clean and prosperous industrial town. However, due to recent spur in Industrial units in and around the city have resulted in severe air, water and soil pollution issues.
is in the state of Uttar Pradesh
. The distt. also separates the Yamuna system from the Satluj river system.
Towards its northern edge is a sub-mountainous region, which has more forest cover and lots of streams; it is the area where the river Yamuna flows out of the hills and into the plains. The northern boundary is also an interstate boundary with the state of Himachal Pradesh
to the north. Sirmour in Himachal is the district to its north with the towns of Nahan
and Paonta Sahib
close to the boundary with Yamuna nagar.
To its west and northwest is Ambala
district, and to its west and southwest is Kurukshetra
district. To its south is Karnal
district.
, Yamuna nagar had a population of 1,214,162 . Males constitute 53.27% of the population and females 46.73%. Yamuna nagar has an average literacy rate of 78.90 %, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 85.10 %, and female literacy is 72.00 %. In Yamunanagar, 143,238 of the population is under 6 years of age. is currently M.L.A from Jagadhri, Yamunanagar.choudhary Dilbag Singh
their new home, and in the process. adding to the culture of the town. The area where land was allocated to the migrants, later developed into the Model Town area of Yamunanagar, the centre of the city and basically the tyagi brahmin dominant area. The city is made on land which is acquired by goverment from tyagi's of gobindpuri who were powerful zamindars of north haryana.south punjab and western uttar pradesh. The whole city of yamunanagr is made on land of village gobindpuri.
To start with the rural areas where it is said that 72% of the population resides. The health services in the rural areas have witnessed a considerable improvements in comparison to what existed at the time of independence. Therefore, the Government surely played a role in the uplifting of health services. However, at the same time, when one weighs it in relation to the contemporaneous standards, he finds that there are gaping clefts existing. Whatever efforts have been taken by the govt. have fallen short of the actual care required. There do exist govt. healthcare centres but the paradox is that no Doctor is ready to render his services in these areas and postings at these places are treated as punishments. This is quite evident in Naharpur and Chhachhrauli Centres. And as one would expect, there is almost a complete absence of Private hospitals with good facilities in the rural areas. As a result, the rural people have to run to the nearest urban centres.
In urban areas, there seems to be a flood of hospitals. One can find these every here and there. But again, the hospitals worth hospitals are few. Though there is Civil Hospital in the Distt, but its sorry states have reduced it to mere centres of authorisation of the accidents, M.L.R. and other documentation related purposes. It is widely held that one would only turn to the Civil Hospital if he has plenty of free time and quite unfortunately, no money.
These circumstances force people to turn towards the privately run hospitals, a brief description of which is given below.
Immediately after the introduction of Haryana Education Policy, 2003, the mushrooming of Haryana Board schools who used to find their ubiquitous presence in every nook and corner of the Distt. came to a halt. Here onwards, the scenario can be considered in two fields.
A. In Haryana Board, only a few private schools have been able to keep their glories intact. And quite expectedly, those schools that have maintained the quality remained the same in form of National, Vivekanand and New Happy in YNr and Nav Prabhat School, S.D. in Jagadhari. Others witnessed a continuous eroding in their quality, and strength.
B. In the sphere of CBSE, the scenario changed a lot. The ushering of new schools and their continuous march towards excellence ended the monopoly of the till existing schools. This monopoly was earlier enjoyed by St. Nishchal, S.D. Public, M.L.N. Public, Vivekanand Sec-17 and Convent. The entry of new schools undoubtedly enhanced the standard of education in the city. Those having established their name in the CBSE Schools include Delhi Public School, National Public School, Spring Fields Public School, New Happy Public School and Indian Public School Radaur. The analysis presents a picture depicting these schools as dear of the people.
DPS created waves during its entry and took the whole city in its sensation. The realities, however, were astonishing. The actual strength was very low and the school struggled to maintain its name and fame on ground realities. The city Parents reacted according to ground realities and it is told that DPS struggles to compete with other CBSE Schools. Experts agree that other schools have been able to live up to the expectations of people. National Public School, IPS Radaur, New Happy Bilaspur have steadily emerged on the canvass. One parent of IPS Radaur remarks that they are very much satisfied with what is being delivered in the School. Parents and teachers of National Public School, Delhi Road opine that the students here show much improvements in spheres across Sports and academics. Similarly, few parents of New Happy Bilaspur & SPRING DALES PUBLIC SCHOOL Bilaspur ROAD, JAGADHRI opine favourably for the school. Saraswati School, Jgd is also on increasing curve.
One thing seems common among all the old CBSE Schools that though parents console themselves that their child is studying in famed schools but the realities in terms of inadequate delivery by these schools always keeps them in a state of turbulence. For a case in point, one parent who got his child painstakingly admitted in Convent, revealed that in actual, not much attention is paid in the school and it is only halo that is applicable to these schools. Similar view points exist for Swami Vivekanand Huda and Sant Nishchal School. At the same time, parents in the young schools express satisfaction and at times, show their staunch support.
Distt. Bal Bhawan organise annual festival in diverse fields of extra curricular activities. Official Records show that the Best performance trophy for the year 2010 was won by National Public School. Results clearly indicate the dominance of these relatively younger schools.
In ICSE Board, there is only one school, i.e., St. Thomas Jagadhari.
Further, it should be admitted that Education is a continuous phenomenon and offers a scope for an ever improving effort. Yet, the scenario in the Distt. YNR stands favourably. It is wished by one and all that Schools as the epitome of education continue to cater to the true needs of the environment by providing an adept education.
The anxiety to choose a good college is sensible among senior school students. The list of prominent colleges is as below.

Economy has ever been regarded as the pace setter of various other aspects of the society. Due to expanding industries, the city kept on extending geographically in leaps and bounds. This is primarily due to an increasing number of immigrants in search of jobs, especially when job scenario of the nation is not much encouraging. This led to an intermixing of diverse culture. It also has to do with the rural ambiance which is reported to have undergone a lot of change. With increasing population, the trading aspects became brighter and the city went on becoming the second highest revenue generator of Haryana, immediately after Faridabad that owes its position largely to its prime location.
Despite being the second highest revenue-generating city after National Capital Region
there has been less development in Yamunanagar.
The city is one of the better developed cities of Haryana and has good educational and medical facilities. It has the highest literacy rate in Haryana.
Western Yamuna canal of the river Yamuna
flows on one side of the city. These canal servers the irrigation needs of the farmers. The canal has century old path ways, called pattri locally, on both sides which serve has connecting routes between villages even today and also help the irrigation department to maintain the canal, however these pathways provide a perfect scenic walk with water on one side and green lush farms on other hand. One can take a dip or even get a tractor ride after the walk. There are some very peaceful patches where one can relax, cook a fish and have a nice picnic.
The river itself marks the boundary of the district with the state of Uttar Pradesh
which borders the city on the eastern side of river Yamuna. The neighbouring city is Saharanpur
in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
In the north, the district borders the state of Himachal Pradesh

is an adjoining town famous for its stainless steel industry. Yamunananar is also famous of its industries such as Ballarpur industries paper mill, sarswati sugar mills, Indian general and sugar engineering works, Kamal Engineering Corporation, Poly plastics etc. Most of the bigger units in the town are ISO certified. Yamunanagar has been a front runner in health and medical services the state of Haryana.Other hospitals
Health care services are a mirror of the governance's effectiveness. It reflects the extent to which the so called Govt. of the people, for the people and by the people care for the people. Distt. Schools
Yamunanagar has come a long way in establishing its name aloft in the arena of School education. Till around 2000, the Distt. had very few 3-4 CBSE Schools and only high income families could consider admitting their ward in these Schools. Haryana Board Schools and that too, the private ones dominated as far as the education for the masses were concerned. Among those who kept their names atop were mainly a troika of National Sr. Sec. School, Swami Vivekanand Sr. Sec. School and New Happy School in Yamunanagar and Nav Prabhat School and S.D.
