is a Hong Kong
engineer and entrepreneur.
He earned his B.Sc from the California Institute of Technology
in Physics in 1967 and continued his graduate studies in Applied Physics at Harvard University
, where he received his MA degree (1968) and his Ph.D (1973).
After working for the United Nations
for one year, he returned to Hong Kong
in 1974 and joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong as a lecturer in the Electronics Department. He stayed in that position until 1984.
He co-founded Varitronix International Ltd. in 1978, with Dr C. C. Chang and Mr James Lee, both of whom were also former faculty members of the CUHK Electronics Department. The company was one of the first manufacturers of LCD.
in recognition of his services in education and industry.
After Hong Kong returned to being part of the People's Republic of China, the new SAR Government appointed him a Justice of the Peace
