York Place tram stop

York Place tram stop is a new tram stop proposed for Edinburgh Trams. Subject to formal approval, it will be the eastern terminus of the line and will be located in York Place, Edinburgh, close to the junctions with Picardy Place and Broughton Street. The decision to build a stop at York Place was announced by the City of Edinburgh Council's City Development Department on 29 November 2011; it had previously been intended to have the terminus stop at St Andrew Square
, but with a short extension to York Place to allow empty trams to reverse. Effectively, it would be a comparitively low cost method of using a tram reversing siding as a facility for fare-paying passengers.
As of 1 December 2011 the use of the name "York Place" has not yet been confirmed, nor has a formal vote been taken by the City of Edinburgh Council.
